Organic Gardening – And Coffee

I read a story once about spreading your old tea leaves onto your plants as a good plant food – and I do put the odd tea bag onto an orchid outside the front door.

But a reader let me know the other day that caffeine and theophylline are great for plant food. And – as I’m sure you know – both are ingredients in coffee. ( Also in a lot of expensive skin care products and asthma medications – so if I see you walking round with coffee on your face I’ll know why )

But apparently plants like their caffeine kick too. And restaurants have a hassle getting rid of their used coffee. So maybe arrange to pick up the used coffee from your local coffee shop and give your plants a caffeine feed.

Good organic stuff and smells good – but I wonder if it’ll give the bugs a buzz?
