Lake Gardens Park or Taman Tasik Perdana as it is known locally is a popular park in the garden city of Kuala Lumpur. It provides a relaxing retreat from the hustle and bustle of urban life through its serene fountains and calm, picturesque landscaping.
It is the oldest park of its kind in Malaysia, originally built by the British as a retreat from daily life, the park has been a mainstay in the city since its creation. Here locals and tourists alike flock to escape their busy schedules and simply take in the view and forget their troubles.
The Lake Gardens Park comprises of sculpted and manicured lawns with pristine designs and undulating green hills with a variety of flora and fauna including tropical rainforest trees and various bird species frolicking between the foliage. The park is also home to popular attractions such as the Bird Park situated on the vast grounds of the Lake Gardens Park. It is considered the worlds largest covered bird park and houses one of the largest walk-in aviaries in the world, with over 3000 species of bird both indigenous and international it is worth a visit.
The Orchid Garden found on the Lake Gardens Park premises houses a wide variety of locally grown species and a variety of international blooms. The walk through the Orchid Garden will prove to be a mesmerising one, as guests are captivated by the beautiful shapes and colours of the various orchid varieties.
Lastly the Kuala Lumpur Butterfly Garden is another significant attraction found on the park grounds. The park houses more than a 120 species of vibrant and colourful butterflies amid a tropical rainforest backdrop to simulate their natural environment. Within the park is also an insect museum highlighting the diversity of the region.
