Throughout Southeast Asia, specifically Cambodia, human trafficking, exploitation, and sexual abuse continue to occur among women, children, and impoverished families. In Kampong Speu, one of the poorest provinces in Cambodia, high incidences of human trafficking are often caused by families paying off debts incurred from buying food.
The Sao Sary Foundation (SSF) provides a proactive approach to helping children and families solve their economic problems, which in turn, helps eliminate the occurrence of child trafficking. SSF not only houses orphans and at-risk children, but we also work with impoverished families throughout the community. We support families with initial start-up capital to begin entrepreneurial efforts in projects like grocery selling and vegetable gardening.
By creating economic independence throughout the community, SSF believes that families will no longer be forced to pay back loans with their children. Additionally, SSF provides full funding for educational costs of the children we support. Currently we support over 50 at-risk children. We provide food, clothing, and shelter for these children, along with vocational skills training. Children living at the SSF house have requisite study hours and must contribute to daily household duties in exchange for participating with SSF.
However, today’s tough economic conditions make it difficult for SSF to meet the needs of our children and families without help from people like you. It is only with your help and support that SSF and our programs, including our Child Protection, Food House, Family Aid, and Community Building programs, can survive. I am writing to invite your business to donate or sponsor an individual child, family, and/or project.
SSF ensures that all donated money complies directly with your personal requests. SSF provides detailed documentation, photographs, and constant monitoring of your donation. Please visit our website at www.ssfcambodia.org for a complete list of our projects needing your help.
